Back to work
End of our pathetic holidays, back to school again tomorrow. And at unearthly times too; haven't had to wake up so early for school in a long long time. Today while trying to read a rather interesting book, suddenly memories from the europe trip hit me; I've always tended to associate songs strongly with memories. And this afternoon the Phantom of the Opera song was playing full force in my head, filling me with thoughts of that glorious Saturday. And then I was smacked back to reality looking at the colourful array of shirts lying on my desk. Sigh...
Lying in bed unable to go back to sleep at 3.40 am does bring a certain clarity to thoughts, because you're simply not awake enough for emotions to be out in full force. And as Belgarion discovers in some novel long ago, when our emotions are out of the way, things are actually quite different than in the day. Not all of them pleasant, so I shall not put it here, but still something to think about. Just when I thought I saw proof of one of those assumptions yesterday, the waters were muddied more. hmmm. Still, interesting or not, hope this kind of thing remains rare because it's v tiring as e day wears on...
Speaking of Sat; Staff vs students soccer game was a joke; the staff were all assembled there by 9, kicking around and warming up. And at that time, there were exactly 4 confused students, all calling friends and cursing and swearing. Eventually we kicked off half an hour late, with 10 men plus one borrowed staff, with half our team not even knowin each others' names to call for passes. 2-1 to them in the first half. In the 2nd, we returned the borrowed player, and lost one more to injury temporarily, leaving 9 against 11. Struggled for a while, until the old men got exhausted, and promptly proceeded to rip them apart, winning 5-2 eventually. Quite funny, though I probably won't think so in a couple decades time...
And after that some NUH mass casualty exercise, where we played severely injured personnel, while they rushed us to OT and A&E and assorted other places. What was supposed to have been a serious simluation quickly became a joke as tedium set it, and we were treated to an unofficial tour of NUH inside, while the nurses and all displayed their more fun loving side. A heartening sign that our carefree habits now will not be lost, only buried haha. At least, I hope so...
Back to school again from tomorrow, for Clinical Skills Foundation Course. Those whom I've promised to meet up please message, and I'll try to work around the schedule. Cos I'm afraid I dunno when u guys will be free...
