Leave
What is leave to me? The freedom from work, to have that immense weight lifted off my shoulders. To spend nights asleep in my own bed, and not teetering on the brink of sleep in a depressingly familiar call room. To wake up at my own leisure and see the sun shining thru the windows, to eat breakfast at home for the 4th time in the last 2 months. To have endless hours to play computers and read books and live my life; which has seemed so often to be put on pause simply because there's no time. And of course, as always, to journey through my treasure trove of pictures, and relive precious times and memories alike. These are the simple pleasures I have made mine over the last few days, with another few to go.
It isn't often that one comes across the work of a master, but I did, this weekend, in the library. The latest trilogy from terry brooks, that author whose books i vividly remember borrowing from Hullet Memorial libary and reading in Maths class under the table, those epic tales of adventure, so incredibly complex and yet woven together into compelling tapestries. And now, reading his latest work, meeting familiar names and familiar places; it brings together the entire universe he created in a spectacular fashion, spanning the medieval era step by step through to the modern and beyond. Truly a joy to read...
And i think this may be where i picked up the habit of writing in italics in a different viewpoint, for i see it now in this series again haha...
The other joy of leave, of course, is in meeting up with the near and dear, and spending lazy afternoons at the beach or chatting/gossiping in cafes. This last has been terribly hard; one of the worst things about work is how everyone's leave is at different times, and we are never free at the same time. How to organise a simple gathering, let alone a holiday is an arduous task sigh...
Alrite leave coming to an end soon, and this posting not long after. Can't really see myself enjoying medicine at this point sigh...
