Wedding

"Mangalyam thanthuna nena
Mamajeevana hetuna
Kante badhrani shubage
Thwam deeya sharadam shubam. "

The famous hindu wedding mantra, which basically means that with the tying of this holy thread the husband's life is entwined with the wife's; I must admit it's a little out of place in the Christian wedding i attended, but i couldn't resist murmuring it to myself as they exchanged their vows up there. Another layer of blessings never did any harm, and I'm sure God doesn't mind haha...

Yes for those of you who were not aware; this saturday Kristal and Yonggeng solemnized their marriage. Those who know them will agree that this was never in doubt, nor the fact that they would be among the first of our "generation" to do so.

A quick dedication, then, to one of my oldest and dearest gal pals. So many times we've taken long bus/mrt rides together, sharing problems and views on everything. The first girl i was able to really talk to, the first gal i really made a connection with, and also one of the most enduring friendships thruout JC life. The gal who really made me comfortable talking to girls, which in turn led to so many of my cherished friendships in the following years. So many things we did together; from building cranes to forging an OG's spirit to IPW and much much more. Its heartwarming to note that even now, so many years later, we're still close as ever =)

Best wishes to the both of you; i'm sure u guys will be happy together!

Friday evening was a big event; when my family went over to meet a certain someone's. I have to say that they got along amazingly well (or maybe its just that its still early, so everyone';s being nice haha) but i really enjoyed that evening. Looking at the grandparents animatedly exchanging stories, i couldn't help but see pieces falling into place...

Enough mush. Today morning was more family bonding in the shape of old men vs young men street soccer. Despite last min injuries/pullouts whatever nonsense, we managed to get 4 young men (ranging from 14 to 23) against the old men (ranging from 40 plus to 50 plus) haha. There was some thrilling action on the court, lots of theatrics (handball! No it hit my face, no handball!) and some creaky knees/cramps etc but on the whole i enjoyed playing soccer again, and i think most of us had fun. It was also the first time i've gotten any physical exercise since an extended bout of flu/sinusitis which still hasn't cleared, and its shocking how unfit its left me. Sigh...

One last week of psych and then we head back to SIP, ortho in NUH this time. Once again, I'm actually hoping that they work us off our asses, cos the best way i seem to learn seems to be in that type of situation. Not to mention that for the last 2 postings, nobody has any idea what to do with us, and it leads to a rather sian feeling of avolition. But its still a week off, and I guess I should use this time to recharge n catch up on mugging.

Wish me luck.
