Some thoughts
So many times in life we go in expecting (or hoping) that things will turn out well, that issues will resolve themselves, that people will use common sense and make things pleasant for everyone. So many times we're proven wrong, convinced that the world is an innately screwed up place, that nothing will ever go right, the immutable force of Murphy's Law.
That's why for once, when something does go right, and exceeds expectations vastly, it feels all the better. I'm talking of course about my beloved flatmates; despite the fact that we 3 are actually quite different in terms of our sleep/wake habits, eating habits, eating preferences even, these 3 weeks have been an absolute joy because things just went so smoothly its as if we have been living together for years. Tho given all our time spent mugging around the library, maybe that is literally true.
It was great to see the guys and Pearlly again this weekend, I had a fabulous time. But it also made me realise just how fortunate I am to have a pair of flatmates like this; who absolutely don't mind cooking vegetarian 80% of the time, who don't mind having to separate utensils and whatnot when they do have meat, and generally being even more careful about preventing contact with meat than I am. It really means a lot to me.
Of course there have been moments at this elective (mostly on work mornings) when I just wish I wasn't here, that I just want to be back in my bed again. And of course I do miss all my nearest and dearest back home. But by and large I have been v happy here, and it will not be easy leaving it all behind in a fortnight's time.
But leave behind we must, for that is life.
With the mush out of the way; here's to you. Yes you arrogant self righteous moron; I'm not asking you to agree with me, all I intended was an amusing article which u read, chuckle and/or laugh at outright and chuck it without a second thought. Instead you read it and pick out individual points, then insinuate that I'm being short sighted and irresponsible, preach about professionalism and the demons of modern medicine. Well, balls to you. The only reason I don't blast an email back right now is because I know I am damn angry, and I will say things I regret. But this doesn't end here, I promise you that.

Sunder,
My mom told me she met your parents at a wedding last week and I thought it was about time I got onto this blog and check out the updates this past year. I know I'm horrible at keeping in touch but it didn't strike me as to how clueless I was until I read that you were out in edinburgh now. I should have figured from the fact that Huren is in India now and that you mentioned that you were going on exchange last time when I was home but I just didn't give it enough thought to piece it together. I am coming home end july we will definitely make amends then. Hope Arun and the rest of the framily are doing well. This time I will try and make it to lunch and eat some of your mom's delicious cooking. Srinivas and I attended a sarod concert in Austin (where Im working this summer) and we thought of you and the good old times. In other random news I re-read raymond feist's magician after chancing upon it at an Aunty's house - another recommendation made by you as to what book I should read back in the RJ library.

P.S. Despite what Mr. Arrogant Self Righteous Moron thinks, I know you will make a fabulous doctor so go out and do your best. I'll see you soon!
