And so it ends
Many things ended today; O&G posting, year 4 as a whole. This posting has been tough; i constantly felt out of place. All those rejections, women looking at you silently asking wtf, and u feel like telling them I don't want to be here any more than u want me to be. But on the whole, I'm surprised to say I actually enjoyed some of it. I enjoyed the deliveries tremendously, and that one night call i did properly in SGH (stayed over) remains my best ever. Tutors were enthu, it felt like we learned a lot in a short time. All the same, the tests are just too many and mind numbing, and i'm very glad to see the back of them.
This year as a whole; year 4 has been challenging and demanding at times, but I must also say that it was probably the best of the years so far. We were settled into clinics, not completely at home yet but far more so than in yr2/3. The hospitals were familiar places (SGH now seems comforting instead of alien haha) and life settled into an easy familiarity. It isn't completely over of course, 4 months of elective remain, but for all intents and purposes we are soon to be final year students preparing for MBBS and work. It does seem a little daunting...
Had a number of epiphanies this year. Found out who my true friends are, and how much they mean to me. Had real heart to heart talks (i realise that i didn't really know what these were till this year haha). Basically i ended this year much more at peace with myself and the kind of person i am than when i started. Year 3 was a time of discovery as well, but with rather more turmoil (not all of it internal haha) but now things have solidified and coalesced. Looking good for the future ahead la...
A long and rather wordy post i know, but i want to put it down in words to refer to, in the difficult times to come. For make no mistake, this year isn't gonna leave quietly. After OT (which remains a source of no small worry) comes the patho pros. At my current mark level, as well as the time i'm spending on patho (nil), this is a very real concern indeed.
Anyways, much to look forward to in the coming weeks; parties and gatherings galore. Merry xmas, and a happy new year!
