This past week has been absolute madness. Between a medsoc gen meeting, several frantic calls from differnt ppl in the Dean's office asking for the same thing; one presentation to Arab medical students and 1 event to MC at. Where once I would've found it exhilarating, this time I'm just damn tired. All to it all the fact that eye posting, while having super nice ppl, is essentially long (in terms of hours each day) and boring. Phew.
Besides the exhaustion of having too many things to do, I've reached a stage which i guess others reached previously. I am tired of dragging ppl to outings; i'm tired of the amount of effort it takes to call for 1 day of lan, all the haggling and conditions. I'm tired of juggling not just mine but other ppl's schedules as well for a simple get together. From now on, if u want to go out with me, ask. Because I probably won't. (caveat: cricket guys dun count, since i am one of the rate limiting factors in this latest outing haha. Sorry!)
And I suppose a large part of that is medsoc. After close to 3/4 of a yr of term, I've come to the realisation that there's a fundamental disconnect between medsoc and the student body in general. We want traditions, we want exciting events, and so we push for them. Most ppl simply can't be bothered, or turn up for certain events as a matter of courtesy. I once thought that ppl like me were the majority; not any longer. Most of the student body just want to get on with their own lives. Nothing wrong in that; I'm now looking forward to stepping down and doing just that. And so you were right all along, when u told us this just after we took over.
Dun get me wrong, this is not written in frustration (well maybe a little) or anger. There's just no energy left to care.
Today's was a gd talk (tho i guess u dun read this anymore haha). Dunno about you, but it really made my day.
